Starting a business is a journey of passions, dreams, and aspirations. For many in the construction and remodeling industry, including myself, the decision to launch my own company, Wise Design & Management, stemmed from a profound desire to transform the lives of people, our clients. In today’s blog, I'll share why I embarked on this entrepreneurial path and how these reasons align with the services we offer at Wise Design & Management.

The American dream is what so many people come to the United States chasing. When did that American dream become working 40+ hours a week for 40 years on the hope to retire on 40% of what you have been making for 4 decades? And with inflation the way it is, 40 years is long out the window of possibilities. Too many people think of the American Dream as having a job, a house, a wife, 2.5 kids, etc...but is is really the dream when you cannot dictate what you WANT?

Money can rent your time, but a purpose OWNS your heart! The people you work for should value YOU for the experience you bring to the table. They should be there when you WIN and when you LOSE. They should push you hared than you have ever been pushed before and give you the PURPOSE to make you better than when you are at your best, and actually care about your path in life.

Before Wise Design & Management came into existence, I spent several years honing my skills in the building design & construction industries. During this time, I developed a unique set of skills and a deep-seated passion for helping other people's DREAM become a reality! However, I often encountered limitations when working under the constraints of traditional corporate structures. Such settings often prioritize profit over creativity and client satisfaction, which led me to envision a company where customer-centric service comes first.

Money alone won't change your life. PURPOSE WILL. GROWTH WILL. Being part of something bigger than yourself WILL. And if the "Leaders" you have been working fording live the life they're telling you to chase, they are selling you a dream they have never bought for themselves. Talk is cheap, results are REAL. IMAGINE a leader doing drugs, can't stay sober, can't keep their family, has a messy personal life. Is this what you WANT? Tell me the income and lifestyle of 5 people you Associate the most time with every week, and I can pinpoint what your income and lifestyle will be like in 5 years...unless those 5 people you associate with are your boss; because in Corporate America, the Salaried employee is paid between 5-10% of the VALUE they bring to the company they work for...meaning if you make $100k per year, you are making your boss between $1,000,000 and $2,000,000 per year.

The first and foremost driving force behind starting my own Building Design and Construction Management business was the desire for creative freedom. Wise Design & Management was born out of a necessity to incorporate innovative solutions tailored to individual client needs. Unlike larger firms, we have the flexibility to customize our approach to each project, ensuring that our client's vision is realized while maintaining functionality and aesthetic appeal.

Another core reason for founding Wise Design & Management was the pursuit of quality and operational excellence. Over the years, I observed that quality often took a back seat to speed and quantity in many of the projects I worked on. I once had a boss offer a bonus program based on speed of completing work. At the end of the quarter when it was time for the bonuses to be paid out, NOT A SINGLE TEAM MEMBER "earned" the bonus, but in that same 3 month period, the Boss bought an AMG G63, A Raptor R, A Porsche Taycan Turbo S, and an F350 Lariat. Over $600k in brand new cars...but no one qualified for the bonus. In that same 3 month time frame that the bonus was supposed to be calculated for, my team and I achieved permits on 9 projects...and that was a team of 3 people. By starting my own company, I am creating a space where premium materials, meticulous craftsmanship, and attention to detail aren’t just objectives but a standards that are consistently upheld. Time with family and friends comes second. We only have 168 hours in a week.

Customer satisfaction is yet another reason I ventured into entrepreneurship. Throughout my time in the industry, I found immense joy not just in designing the buildings and seeing them come to life, but in building relationships. I wanted to create a company where communication and partnership with clients took precedence. At Wise Design & Management, we believe in a collaborative approach, where clients are partners in the design and construction process, feeling informed and involved at every stage.

The importance of adaptability and innovation cannot be overstated in the construction and remodeling sector. The industry is constantly evolving with new materials, technologies, and sustainability practices.
